Technical Competences of R&D providers

This research centre is specialised in Engineering Centre and provides R&D services.

CRF offers a wide range of technical competencies and is equipped with laboratories for the testing of power trains, electro-magnetic compatibility, experimental noise and vibration analysis, driving simulation and virtual reality, in addition to facilities for the development of new materials and manufacturing processes, opto-electronics and micro-technologies.

Research about hydrogen related to:

• FC System & Powertrain specific solutions developed:
• for passenger cars: using Nuvera PEM FC stacks;
• for urban buses: UTC PEM FC Systems;
• New generation FC Systems (FC full power);

The Research centre has experience in research projects supported by different types of funding:

• EU projects:
  Fuero, Fueva, Optimerecell, FCTestnet, Direct, HyTran, HySYS, Autobrane, Roads2Hycom, HarmonHy;
• National projects:
  FC1, FC2, FC3, R&D projects;

Experimental activities are:

• PEM stack (Proton Exchange Membrane)
• auxiliary (air compressors, water pumps, radiator…) and subsystems (air management, water...)
• Complete Fuel Cell System (stack + auxiliary);
• Fuel Cell Powertrain (Fuel Cell System and electric activation of front-/rear-wheel drive and transmission) even with battery integration.
