Co-operation Profile

The FOUNDATION FOR THE DEVELOPMENT OF NEW HYDROGEN TECHNOLOGIES IN ARAGÓN, is the main initiative impelled by the Government of Aragón (Spain) to support the development of the new technologies related to the renewable energies and hydrogen, to promote the settlement of Aragón into the economic activities related to the use of hydrogen as an energy carrier and to encourage research, technology development, co-generation, industrial adaptation, contributing to the industrial modernization and competitiveness enhancement. The Foundation was constituted on 23rd of December 2003. Currently the Foundation is formed by 52 companies and institutions (March 2008). The composition of its Council covers all the sectors of interest for the new hydrogen economy and all the necessary agents in order to develop products and services, from basic research to investment. The Foundation, as a R&D centre, offers services to the companies in the actuation lines in hydrogen and fuel cells. Moreover, it covers all services of specialized Engineering and Consultancy in the topics of hydrogen and fuel cells. Nowadays, our experience is demonstrated with the following developed projects:
- Projects of renewable energy (wind and photovoltaic) integration with hydrogen production by means of an electrolyser: ITHER project (Technology Infrastructure for Hydrogen and Renewable Energies). For the development of these investigation lines, there is a photovoltaic installation of 100 kW of different technologies and 3 wind turbines of 330 kW, 225 kW and 80 kW. In this subject, the Foundation is leader of Task 24 of AIE in Wind and Hydrogen Production Integration. Foundation has a strategic agreement with one high power electrolizer manufacture.
- Projects of storage and distribution hydrogen systems, included analysis of regulation, codes and standars process, with national companies in SPHERA and EXPO 2008 project.
- Projects of fuel cell integration in automotive and portable applications, Formula Zero is one of these.
- Experience in European funded projects. Currently we take part in H2training (Leonardo Programme) and HYTETRA (VI Framework Programme), concerning training and technology transfer respectively.
- Regional projects to define strategic plans to SMEs and technology vigilance in hydrogen and fuel cells, EDHA, VITHA and NECATHEC are offered to SMEs.
- The Foundation renders services to specialized engineering and consultancy in hydrogen and fuel cells.
- The Foundation participates in specialized training, for example in the Hydrogen and Fuel Cell Diploma of Zaragoza University.

- We are specialist engineering in renewable hydrogen production. We have developed installations to the integration of hydrogen production with photovoltaic and wind energy by electrolysis, then we have the knowledge to develop projects of hydrogen production and we are looking for clients interested in this technology.
- Also, we are looking for companies and research centres to launch join developments in hydrogen production by electrolizers with renewable energies.
- Companies and research centres to launch transversal initiatives to support companies, training, diffusion and regulations, codes and standars..
